    | About UsWe live in a stunning area of the Lake District and are fortunate to be based at Bowkerstead, a traditional working farm and campsite on the edge of Grizedale Forest.We share our lives with an array of animals who are very much part of the family. Centre proprietor Danni Metcalfe has a special affinity with horses and enjoys working with others to help them develop confidence in the saddle. After years of gaining experience and qualifications working at riding centres, setting up Grizedale Riding Centre was a natural progression and, with the help of friends and family, we are very pleased to be open for business! They range from 11hh to 17hh and are all very special in their own ways. They are kept as natural as possible, in a mixed sex group to avoid bickering on rides. Some of the horses are fairly new to us, and we are enjoying playing with them and getting them used to our FUN way of life, and some we have had for over a decade! All our horses (even the huge ones) are safe and quiet when you need them to be, but are more than up to go for a good old canter when you want to! |

Hi Danielle,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how much Madeleine and I enjoyed our ride on Monday. Your love for horses and the local area was evident and we thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour hack, could have gone for longer and come back the next day but had to explore the hills on foot too! After we left you we went to Grizedale Info.centre for lunch and followed one of their walking trails which was fun and the sun came out too.
